If you are unfamiliar with this process, please continue reading for more information.
When you register a domain name, your contact information is recorded into the domain record for the period of years you paid to register the domain name. Your domain name record is kept in a separate database from your Web hosting account/service. Therefore, to ensure that you receive all notifications regarding your domain name, including expiration notices, it is very important that your domain name record is current with your most recent contact information.
NetFronts partners with BulkRegister and Enom for domain registrations. If you registered your domain name through NetFronts, the Check Domain button above will allow you to provide your new information to update your domain record or you will be directed to your own user interface to update your domain record.
Why is your domain registration important to your Web site?
Your domain name and Web hosting are two separate entities and need to be individually renewed to maintain your Web presence. If your Web hosting service is with NetFronts, it will renew automatically and must be cancelled to discontinue. However, the domain registration will expire on a certain date and must be renewed to continue. Your domain registration may not have the same expiration/renewal date as your Web hosting plan.
Your domain name is only the unique name that identifies your site and its purpose is to call up your Web pages. Your Web hosting is the service that hooks your domain name to your Web pages and allows the files to be viewable via the Internet. In other words, your files have been uploaded to a Web server, where you rent space to hold those files. The files are accessible any time a person types your domain name into a Web browser.
