Why is it important to renew your domain
registration?
If a domain name is not
renewed by its expiration date, a corresponding website will
no longer
be accessible through the domain name. A domain may still
be recoverable for up to 30 days after the expiration date.
Thirty
days past the expiration date, a domain falls into what is
known as Redemption Period, which can last for another 30-35
days
and
is only recoverable
for a hefty fee ($199.00). The fee is not imposed by NetFronts,
but it is required to redeem the domain. After Redemption
period, the
domain becomes
available for public
registration.
Why is your domain registration important
to your website?
Your domain name and web hosting are two separate entities
and need to be individually renewed to maintain your web presence.
If your web hosting service is with NetFronts, it will renew
automatically
and must be cancelled to discontinue. However, the domain registration
will expire on a certain date and must be renewed to continue.
Your domain registration may not have the same expiration/renewal
date
as your web hosting plan.
Your domain name is only the unique
name that identifies your site and its sole purpose is to
call up your web pages. Your web hosting is the service that
hooks
your domain name to your web pages and
allows the files to be viewable via the Internet. In other
words, your files have been uploaded to a web server, where
you rent space to hold
those files. The files are accessible any time a person types
your domain name into a web browser.
